My Masterpiece
by Chanel E. Lallouz
I have always wanted to write a song; some indescribable inspirational song that would move people all around the world to ‘feel’ and ‘think’ in a different light.

As I listen to songs of other artists, I have experienced such feelings to a certain degree, emotions that made me feel a particular way. But I have yet to find a way to transfer such thoughts into lyrics... into song.

If only it were that simple to just come to me. One day it will. It won’t matter if this creation has a good beat or the right amount of background vocals, because that’s not where the importance lies. The positive effect it would have on those who heard my masterpiece; that’s what music is really all about ... at least to me.

Each musical masterpiece has to come to its final phase of creation, leaving it up to the public to decide its fate. Similar to that of a life; each a masterpiece in its own right with God high above in the sky watching and smiling as we compose and create details to our individual being.

Perhaps God smiles simply knowing that we are all creating our own meaningful masterpieces with each passing day.

True that some might feel that their lives are filled with misery instead of happiness or beauty, but I can’t help but to feel that the ‘lesson’ of it all, is what remains most relevant.
When I do finally lay my eyes upon my finished work, will I only see the mistakes I have made throughout the creative process, or will I be so blinded by its beauty that nothing else will matter? I assume that any imperfections would be cast aside, for when all is said and done, it would be my achievement, my masterpiece.

My paint brush continues to flow freely, for there is much to be done; mistakes, accomplishments, and a few minor adjustments along the way. I have a feeling that my masterpiece may frighten you at first; not for its beauty, but for its reality. Whatever its art form, there is one thing that I can promise... a smile will spread across your face!
