Born in Stavanger, Norway, C.A. “Charlie” Aabo grew up with a passion for the theatre and movies. A graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art located in Dover, NJ, Aabo’s first full-time job was for Felix the Cat Studio, where he worked as a penciler, inker, letterer and sometime editor to help relaunch Felix’s comic-book career. JON PAY, P.I. came to life based on Aabo’s love of classic American detective characters, whodunnit books and movies, as well as the infamous Bugsy Malone. Approached by Norwegian publishers, Seriehuset www.seriehuset.no , “JON PAY PRIVATDETEKTIV”, a full colour collection of two books, was published in 2004. With many credits under his belt; children’s book illustrations and other works, Aabo’s latest project is a fully illustrated board game to hit Norway stores in 2007. Aabo currently resides in Southern Spain, however his years spent in America somewhat influenced the choice of cuisine for his restaurant, “Charlie’s AMERICAN PIZZA” located in Sabinillias -- an attraction which showcases Aabo’s JON PAY character, displayed throughout the beach front location.
