The Epicurean Experience

Mexican gastronomy Lallouz-A-Palooza The thought of having ‘Mexican’ immediately brings burritos, tacos and refried beans to mind! So having Chef Abdul delight in selecting our dinner menu was a treat beyond belief. Whatever notion you may have that you’ve experienced Mexican cuisine is to be considered erroneous, until you’ve indulged in these gastronomic creations.

Proprietor of NEW MEXICO Restaurant, Chef Abdul has brought a world of expertise to this charming Estepona based eatery. Seated at a romantic candlelit table, a history of ‘Blue’ notes filled the airwaves as we enjoyed a beautiful Spanish red wine ‘Monasterio De Las Viñas’.

And so began our ‘Epicurean Journey’! Like a dream, we sampled from a feast of starter platters; delectable spicy Cajun Buffalo Strips (so tender, coated to perfection), Chinatown inspired Spring Rolls (golden crisped and filled with oriental vegetables), Quesedilla Santa Fé (hot tortillas filled with melted cheese, peppers and spring onions with sides of guacamole, salsa and sour cream) and Nachos y Guacamole (a harmonious fiesta of chili beef, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and Jalapeño chili peppers). Our taste buds were enchanted and begging for more! NEW MEXICO (Bar & Restaurante) offers a selection of handpicked rare wines that are not listed on the menu; liqueurs aged more than 50 years are available to connoisseurs who favour to indulge in such extravagancies. And so it was... more along the lines of an ‘Epicurean Banquet’! Main courses of sizzling New Mexico Fajitas (flour tortillas with stir fried chicken, beef, and vegetable trimmings), Chicago Ribs (succulent rack of baby back ribs with a zesty BBQ sauce, coleslaw salad and lovely potato wedges), and Dolce Vita (juicy chicken breast with an exquisite mushroom sauce, bacon, cheddar and mozzarella cheese with honey dijon sauce). The last course; café con leche and ‘postres deliciosos’... creamy homemade strawberry topped New York style Cheese Cake, followed by the last of this ‘Palatable Adventure’ -- a super rich Pecan Brownie à la mode with a sinfully decadent chocolate sauce.

Chef Abdul’s motto, “a customer is my king, the service comes from my heart.”

With more than twenty years of experience in the food service industry, including a successful Mexican restaurant in Finland, Chef Abdul has refined the staples of traditional Mexican cuisine and enhanced its style with his own savoury twist. A brilliant accomplishment!

‘Insider Tip’ for patrons; exceptional menu enhancements... I have taken an ‘Oath of Secrecy’ and cannot divulge anymore information!
