Exuding a demeanor of confidence and grace, French Toréador, Denis Loré says farewell to Torromachi. At a close range, Loré thrusts his sword strategically in what is recorded as his ‘FINALE’ bullfight. His retirement brings an end to a distinguished career as a much respected Matador. Tune in for a dangerous ‘Spanish bullfight’ right here on LIM MEDIA. Violent & graphic content. André-Paul Chagnoleau has been a bull-breeder (Manadier) for the past 30 years since his father Louis Chagnoleau, a Guardian, created Manade du Rousty back in 1977. Truly a man of passion and dedication to the protection and livelihood of the Camargue toros, his support is equally laboured by a surrounding close knit family unit of his own. Concerned with Camargue’s fragile state, Chagnoleau shares that the preservation of land and bull culture can only happen with the backing of the entire country. Unlike Spain, who stands behind the bull culture, only certain regions of France support Torromachi. ‘Bullseye’ right here on LIM MEDIA.
Image LIM MEDIA After a tranquil day of fishing, ‘Mr. Camargue’ Francis Espejo and his wife Ninou host a mouth-watering barbecue at their sprawling ranch ‘Mas Panta Reï’ in a charming country cabin nestled away in the wild beauty of Arles. Mr. Camargue plays chef to LIM’s hungry brood, serving up a savoury mixed grilled, accompanied by juicy Toulouse sausage, spicy mergez, Camargue rice ‘à la Paella’, a picture perfect salad, a dangerously decadent brownie cake, along with appéros of Cartagène, Pastis of Marseille, fine wines, brewed coffee and tea... and the extraordinary company of the Espejo family and good friend Christian Lombardo. A rare find! Generosity galore, heartfelt welcome and incredible day spent. Check out the ‘sizzle’ right here on LIM MEDIA QUICK VIEW. Image LIM MEDIA
ADIEU À LA TORROMACHI
If one man had to represent Camargue, it would be ‘no one other’ and ‘no one better’ than Francis Espejo. With a keen understanding of regional history, an intricate knowledge of bull breeding and torromachi, Monsieur Camargue is an advocate of political and cultural subjects concerning the land from which he was born. He states, “We are the Indians, and this land is ours to protect!” Sharing stories of Folco de Baroncelli, Buffalo Bill, and Crazy Horse, Espejo heads an organization that tours ‘La Torromachi’ within France as well as other countries. Grab your ‘peace pipe for a pow-wow’ with Monsieur Camargue right here on LIM MEDIA. For centuries, this ancient breed of small horses have lived in the wild wetlands and Camargue marshes of Southern France. Born dark brown in colour, their coat lightens to a pale shade of grey or most commonly white by the age of 3. Rancher, Gilles Roussel’s ‘Mas Blanquet’ is a 5th generation farmstead which was acquired by his great-great grandfather in 1792. Today, one of its primary functions is the champion breeding of these gentle natured animals which are used traditionally by ‘Guardians’ (Camargue cowboys) to herd bulls. Caught in the middle of ‘horse haven’ right here on LIM MEDIA. Image LIM MEDIA ‘La Course Camarguaise’ (French bull race) is one of the most exciting sports -- a game of confrontation between teenaged boys (‘Raseteurs’) and young bulls. Unlike Spanish bullfights, the bulls are not killed. Using a ‘raset’ (metal claw shaped tool), the Raseteurs must remove attributes (rosettes) that have been affixed between the bull's horns, whereby winning prize money. Grab hold of your seat for ‘La Course Camarguaise’ right here on LIM MEDIA. A unique chance to ride amidst bulls and along trails that a mere 40 people have traveled. See LIM Editress-in-Chief, Contessa Rhonda von Sternberg on horseback along with LIM Publisher, Elyahou Lallouz, also on horseback and a handheld camera... a little shaky, but nonetheless an amazing adventure. A ‘virgin land of paradise’ as seen right here on LIM MEDIA QUICK VIEW. Image LIM MEDIA
