“THE VINTNER”
“The love of wine is inscribed in our genes. All the religions of the world have emphasized its sacredness, whether by integration or by prohibiting it.  Libations to the memory of the dead,  celebrations of life and love... wine is our history.  Wine growers, we are the guardians of the temple. Be it through the quality of our wines, innovation and research, it is an honour for which we must tirelessly fight.”  ~Chantal Comte
For the past three generations, the Comte family has owned and operated the Château de la Tuilerie, a sprawling 98 hectare vineyard with a history dating back to the Quaternary Period. Located in the Costières region of the Rhone Valley, the property sits on an ancient limestone plateau structured of polished round stones. This geological monument was especially popular amongst pilgrims traveling on the road to Santiago de Compostela, whereby it was used as a lodging facility of repose during their rigorous journey.

Today, Chantal Comte along with her husband, Pierre-Yves Comte and their son Eric (who heads up the Export division which services more than 38 countries worldwide) produce outstanding wines made from premium grape varieties of Marsanne, Grenache, Clairette and Rolle for the AOC whites... Merlot and Cabernet for the Red Vins de Pays d'Oc... Grenache and Syrah for the AOC Reds... and Viognier for the whites... products to be admired for their intense colour, and aromas of black fruit and sweet spice.

Such are the essential elements that remain key contributors to the unique character of Château de la Tuilerie wines.
Château de la Tuilerie’s state-of-the-art cellars provide perfect conditions for high-quality wine making. Its high caliber bottling plant turns out 3000 bottles per hour.

A deep root system is instrumental in order for wine stocks to reach the necessary water level of survival. Placing grass around wine stocks, along with dual sided leaf thinning are just some of the high quality techniques implemented in order to control the hydrous tension of wine stocks and to insure Château de la Tuilerie’s superior level of quality wines.
“I read an interesting editorial about young parents and their concern for that of their children when it comes to wine tasting, as it may appear to be somewhat dangerous. I feel that education on this subject should start from a very young age.  From time to time, I have my own grandchildren participate in the tasting of a very good wine. As in the editorial, I ask them to express the sensations they experience, because ‘wine is culture’. It's not only about drinking. Wine tasting summons the senses. It calls upon memory. It touches culture. Therefore, it's important to teach children that it’s alright to partake in the wine tasting process, but it is necessary to analyze one’s sensations,” shares 27-year veteran wine grower, Chantal Comte.
‘When one is served a good wine, one must first look at the wine, set it down and talk about it... the proper steps to take before ever considering a taste.’ ‘CRÈME DE LA CRÈME’

Chantal Comte’s collection of elite Martinique Rum is just part of many prestigious products available from Château de la Tuilerie.
Since 1986, from the time the estate of Château de la Tuilerie was awarded "Best Wine Exporter of Languedoc-Roussillon", the Comte family dynasty has continued to earn well-merited medals for their capacity to produce a variety of exquisite wines.
